Finally got around to making the site mobile friendly. There is still some work to be done, but it should be much more usable than before.

I finally got around to releasing the new homepage layout that I basically had ready in June. It's still not perfect, but has been releasable for some time. I will fine tune when I have time.

Blog Expectations

I think I finally have things working how I want for the blog. I can't promise how often I will post at this point but hope to write about a number of topics. The hobbies that I probably spend most of my time on are web development and cars, so you can certainly expect to see posts about those most frequently. Other topics may include other technology related things that I may be working on, recreational activities like snowboarding, or the opportunities I get to do things like skydiving.

I still have a number of improvements that will eventually be seen here, but each of them will require significant separate efforts from what I put into the blog itself.

If you wish to follow what I post here, feel free to subscribe. I plan to add the ability to filter what you subscribe to in the future so I don't bug you with posts that you are not interested in. I will update this post when that is available.

Also, if you happen to run into a problem that you think I should know about, please let me know.

My new blog

I've been wanting to get a blog going for some time now, but haven't gotten around to getting one started until now. There have been a number of things that I would like to write about recently, which have been motivating me a bit more. The site overall has been very light on content and I hope this will help to improve that.

I have chosen to use WordPress for my blog on the site, but want to get it fully integrated before fully releasing the blog. There is quite a bit that I need to get configured before I am to that point, but getting the initial install done is a start.

Those of you that subscribe to my RSS feed may see this post before the blog is fully released, so you will be the first to get the news. Getting the feed updated is one of the main updates that needs to be completed before the blog is released. Hopefully, by the time you see this post there, the rest will be nearing completion.

I want to have the site feed continue to provide all items pertaining to the entire site. Currently, the feed is only providing site updates, so I need to get it to aggregate from multiple update lists. In addition to this, I need it to accept parameters so users can choose the information that they want to subscribe to.

The other main thing to accomplish before full release is integration with the templates for the main site. I don't think this should be too complicated, but I expect to run into at least a couple issues in the process.

Another major goal I have around WordPress is to get the user management integrated into the CMS that I am building so that I can have a single sign-on for my systems as well as WordPress, MediaWiki, etc. This will obviously be something that gets tackled after the blog release, but is still something I plan to pursue.
